12 tons & 6 years

It's been a busy busy weekend! First we ordered 12 tons of rock Jeremy would dump wheelbarrow loads and I would smooth them out with the rake. I used abdomen muscles that I had forgotten about since the baby, I can't belive what a wimp I've become! Jeremy had to break up a pad of concrete where our AC used to be, and so he rented a jackhammer (fun!) and broke it up in no time flat.

I wasn't the only one who was tired out, Jeremy sat down and decided he was actually pretty comfortable, so while he napped I took a few pics...

Sunday was Rachel's 6th birthday! I can't believe how she has grown, and we had a small family celebration. Her birthday wish was fairly short: cake and an alarm clock. We managed both, and she was thrilled.

Then, our great home teacher and great neighbor came over on Monday and helped Jeremy with the rocks. They did in an hour and a half what would have taken the two of us the entire day. My stomach muscles were very grateful! And I'm so glad that the backyard isn't such a disaster anymore, Yeah!
It was a good family weekend.

I wish I could see you backyard all finished. You guys have done a lot. How are your roses?

I'll take a picture next time I think about it, but I'm not sure we're ever going to be ALL finished! The roses are doing great, since the rains have hit and the intense heat is over they are blooming again.

That's awesome that you guys are doing the backyard. I'm sure it was really hard work. I want to see pictures when you're finished!

You will have to show how the backyard turned out. Was it all dirt for a long time?

After having two boys and a dog muddy up the yard everyday and drag in that mess for years, I pretty much DEMANDED that my husband do something about it in 6 months or less after we moved into our new house a year old. He did a pretty good job.

The nagging must have paid off, because my carpets still look pretty decent after a year.

Hey Janei! I'd love to see what you've done-- your back yard sounds great! Don't you love good Home Teachers! Yeah for helping! Hope all is well. Rachel looks so pretty and grown-up! I love that she wanted an alarm clock. Too cute.
